Four Focal Areas of Ministry
Our Biblical counseling ministry is rooted in Scripture and is Christ-centered. The process can be described as Spirit-led face-to-face discipleship using the Word of God to minister to those in need of soul care, and with the goal of growing believers through their trials (Colossians 1:28). At Christ-Centered Solutions, we hold to the sufficiency of the Scriptures and believe the Bible is able to answer life's issues (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:3-4).
We see individuals and couples both in-office and online. To set an appointment with Dr. West or Dr. Cashwell please visit our appointment page.
One of our goals at Christ-Centered Solutions is to help pastors and leaders equip their members to love and care for one another better (John 15:12-17; 1 John 3:11-18; 4:19-20; Romans 12:9-13), and in the process, free pastors to focus their attention and time on the larger congregation. In reality, most pastors are constantly pressed for time between ministry and family, and when it comes to Biblical counseling, they can rarely devote more than two or three sessions to a member. Two other points to remember are, (1) many pastors feel inadequate when it comes to their Biblical counseling skills, and (2) many church members feel uncomfortable sharing some issues with their pastors because of various fears. Below are some of the church member training sessions and conferences CCS offers.
- Providing Soul Care to The Grieving (Recommendations from Rev. Canady and Rev. Pruitt & wife)
- The Basics of Biblical Counseling
- I Still Do: The Seasons of Marriage (Recommendation from Dr. Louis Venable)
- Becoming A Marriage Mentor (Dare to Be Different)
- Men of Integrity: Rise to The Challenge
- Learning to Think Like Jesus and The Biblical Counselor
Our Pastor Coaching is narrowly focused on pastors, their spouses, and their ministries, and for a very good reason - because our pastors are in trouble. In today's postmodern, and some say post-church society, pastors are held in very low esteem. *Only 25% of non-Christians in America have a favorable view of pastors. Sadder still, only 48% of self-identified Christians have a high view of pastors in America (for more information click here).
Pastors and their families face a myriad of struggles, this includes both older more seasoned pastors as well as younger pastors. Burnout and suicide are very real issues for this group and we want to help change that at Christ-Centered Solutions. If you're a pastor or spouse of a pastor and you'd like to speak with Dr. West or Dr. Cashwell, please visit our Appointment Page to schedule a meeting. Hear from Rev. Byran Ayer, a pastor in North Charleston as he shares his view of the coaching process with Dr. West.
If you want to help pastors and their spouses with their coaching or Biblical counseling needs, you can do so by supporting a pastor and giving to CCS. Please visit our Giving Page to support a pastor today. Be sure to click the "Add or Change Funds" button to choose the Pastor's Fund.
Dr. Rod West also serves as a consultant to local churches. He serves in an advisory role in this challenging and rapidly changing culture we find ourselves in today. He works hand-in-hand with pastors and other Church leaders by sharing his 30-plus years of experience in the pastorate. His history includes serving as a Senior Pastor/Teaching Elder of five different churches, a church planter in cooperation with the North Carolina Baptist State Convention, a certified Transitional Interim Minister, and merging and transitioning churches in both North and South Carolina. To learn more about his last church transition please watch, Leadership Succession: Change in Pastoral Leaders. This video is a conversation led by Rev. Craig Tuck, Director of Missions of the Charleston Baptist Association, in Charleston South Carolina, Rev. Mark Timmons, and Dr. West.

*These are the latest numbers from Gallup (2018). More than likely, these numbers are even lower today based on America's recent history.
Dr. West would be honored to come and share the ministry of Christ-Centered Solutions, fill the pulpit in support of pastors vacationing or just needing a break. He is also available to share his testimony on request with your congregation, small group, Sunday school class, or other groups. You are encouraged to view his recorded testimony on his YouTube Channel at Just Thinking before he speaks due to its sensitive nature.
